We did the tour of York with Kevin today and it was by far the best tour of any city that we’ve ever done. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable, personable and fun to walk the city with. This organization is very cool and there should be more like it, as it is a great way to preserve and pass on the history of such a beautiful town. I would without a doubt recommend you book this tour, don’t hesitate!

Richard was a really fine guide with lots of information, history and insight. Covered a LOT of history in a little over 2 hours but was clear and didn’t try to be funny when not appropriate. I can’t imagine why anyone coming to York for the first (or fifth!) time wouldn’t start with this excellent tour. rn

A wonderful afternoon on the tour. Hosted by Richard A, we weren’t sure what to expect but this was just what was needed. I’ve been to York on a few occasions but never really known the exact history behind the different areas. Richard was excellent at telling the story of York and bringing it to life. Clearly passionate about the city and well worth doing. You’ll get to find out so much and have an enjoyable couple of hours.

Four of us took the 1.15 tour with Mike. It was a very hot day and the wall walk was wisely omitted, but we didn’t feel the lack as we learned so much about the history of this wonderful city. Mike is a very knowledgeable guide with a delightful sense of humour and we felt we had seen many aspects of the city we would otherwise have missed. I can’t recommend the tour highly enough- thank you Mike!

We did the tour on 04 August 22. Excellent and well paced. Due to the tour: we were able to walk around the city and appreciate the history and associated richness.

We went on a tour this afternoon, guided by Nick. There were about 15 of us in total, including 2 dogs and a baby in a pushchair. Nick was so interesting and informative and took us to places that we hadn’t realised were there. Our superb tour guide was Mr. Mick Popka. He did an outstanding job with a group of about 15 of us. My favorite part was that Mick was so informative. This was not a \dqthere’s a tower over there, it’s old,\dq but rather more in-depth with information. We went to York SPECIFICALLY because of its history, so we LOVED all the information and how he delivered it. He also answered our questions about where to eat local dishes and which pubs might be nice to visit on a certain day / time. We would most definitely recommend a tour of York by Mick!

I’d strongly recommend a tour from the AVG to orient you to York both for the landmarks but also the history. Wendy was able to answer our group’s questions and clearly has a great store of knowledge about York, its history, and its people. You can tell she loves bringing people around and sharing York with them. We were only in the city for two nights on a trip from the US and the tour and Wendy’s detailed information was a wonderful way to experience York. rn

Visiting York for the first time for a long weekend with my partner, we planned to take this tour to get an overview of the city and its history. This is exactly what happened, but we were actually not expecting such an interesting guided tour, given for free. Our guide Neil is really passionate about the city, extremely knowledgeable and managed to make us feel like the tour had lasted one hour less! Myself and a friend joined a walking tour of York yesterday, Thursday 14th April at 1:15pm (the tour guide might’ve been John?). I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the organisation with special thanks to the tour guide.
