Helen was the perfect host throughout our 2 hour tour of York. Her knowledge is in-depth and extremely insightful, her experiential knowledge of the area was brought to life, she shared personal memories of when she studied there herself which made the tour much more personal, (brought it to life in a more detailed manor). We had a really interesting and informative tour of York lasting over 2 hours. Our guide Wendy answered all our questions and was particularly good with our son Marcus who has autism. Would thoroughly recommend!

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time touring York with our guide Neil today. Neil helped us to understand and appreciate the city much more. His presentation and style were spot on: a healthy mix of historic facts and dates with clear personal stance on issues and lovely sense of humour. Neil’s love for York was coming very clearly through his speech. We felt privileged to be guided around York by someone who knows and loves his native city as Neil does. Although billed as a walking tour, due to the stops and all the nuggets of knowledge it was an easy 2+ hrs – other tours are available but this tour is completely free which is a testament to the team that run the tours – thank you

We did the free 2 hour walking tour of York yesterday, with our lovely guide Debbie. It was a fantastic and rewarding experience, where Debbie was extremely knowledgeable and delivered everything in a light hearted informative manner. We would thoroughly recommend going along on a tour, it’s a great experience.

Lovely tour guide with a laidback, warm and friendly style. We’ve visited York a few times before and thought we knew the city relatively well, but Debbie took us to several places we’ve never been to before and told us many new facts. rnReally enjoyable

We must have just had the wettest York City Tour on record! The forecast said it might rain, but it was torrential, with distant thunder and lightning. Our excellent guide Graham carried on regardless while doing his best to protect us from the elements and keep us safe. He still managed to deliver an excellent tour with a multitude of facts and details (we learned a lot) and delivered with more than a little humour. We had jackets and umbrellas, and remained relatively dry. Poor Graham was well and truly soaked. His performance went well beyond the call of duty. 20/10”rnLooking forward to next tour with Graham when it is not quite so wet’.. Highly recommended.

This tour was the absolute highlight of our stay in York. Our guide, Helen, was so wonderful and gave us an excellent overview of York’s history and monuments. We loved the tour and can’t thank Helen enough!

I have done this tour now six times, and I have recommended a few friends to do it as well, and nobody has been let down. All the tour guides are excellent, very knowledgeable about history and culture. The tour is completely free and they won’t take tips. An absolutely unmissable when visiting York for the first time.

Amazing tour! We had ours guided by a Scottish bloke with a big booming voice. The tour was funny, interesting and enlightening. Highly recommended!

My sister and I did the tour yesterday. Our guide Nick was friendly welcoming and knowledgeable. The tour took us to tucked away places we might have missed and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I think it’s wonderful that York people devote their time to show off this historic and beautiful city. An essential start to any visit to York.
