We had Richard give us a tour on Saturday 27th Jan and it was great!! Always think the walking tours are a brilliant way to explore and get to know the city. Richard was full of history and very friendly.

We had a great time, our guide Richard was very knowledgeable and took us on a tour through the city centre and the ages, nearly two thousand years of history was covered and we were treated to insights far beyond what we could have found without this brilliant activity, our entire trip was improved by the two hours spent learning about this wonderful city.

Keith was our guide. An architect with an intense interest in history and a quirky sense of humour. Very informative and interesting, without being boring. Unlike many commercial tours thankfully it was absent the rubbish stories. A really worthwhile tour. rn

Best tour and tour guide we have ever had! Helen was our tour guide for 2-1/4 hours. She was wonderful! She gave us such an in-depth tour of York and many facts about the Roman and Medieval periods and beyond to current day. We could tell that she really loves this city and wants to share all that she knows about it. We would never have learned all of this on our own – and she is a volunteer. Went on the tour with Jo yesterday. My companion and I thoroughly enjoyed it… she was excellent. I’ve been on these tours lots of times over the years and they are always excellent, but this was particularly good and she took us to some slightly different places and away from the crowds. A most informative, interesting and entertaining two and a bit hours in the company of our guide today. Considering that this is a free service, it was if exceptional quality. All questions were answered and it gave us an insight into the very rich history of this beautiful city.

Steve the tour guide from start to finish of our walk today was very knowledgeable, patient and informative of the city of York. His historical accounts helped both me and my wife to picture how it was then within Roman, Viking, tutor and victoriana times in York. Would very highly recommend people visiting York to attend and although totally free of charge would ask people to please contribute some money whatever they can afford to this volunteer initiative.
