The origin of York street names

If you are researching the origin of any street names in York*, the following may be of interest to you:

*NOTE: The definition of York is “within the outer ring road” with the inclusion of Bishopthorpe. Other villages such as Haxby, Wiggington, Strensall etc., are not included.

Over a number of years a Facebook Group has undertaken research to capture the origin of many of the street names.
The group have produced 3 documents:
1. A 14 page index listing all the past/present street names that they have been able to identify
2. A 253 page listing of the origin of most of the street names in the index
3. A 123 page listing with associated pictures of many of the streets names in the index.
