Can anyone tell me where the bones of Romans found in various digs are now? I was asked this question by a great 10 year old boy on a recent walk. I had shown him and his brother the Roman coffins in Museum Gardens and talked about the Roman ‘gladiators’ from Driffield Terrace. The lad was fascinated and then asked ‘but where are the bones now? Where are the skeletons?’ I had to say I didn’t know. I have tried to google the answer, but no joy.
So ‘where are the bones?’ If you know, please tell me.
Judy
It may be worth asking the Yorkshire Museum and/or the York Archaeological Trust.
I’m sure they will have had some involvement in the project.
